Description

Cuenca is a World Heritage City and this former 16th century monastery is to be found in the historic quarter of Cuenca atop the Huécar Gorge. The cloister and chapel are today a cosy café and the refectory is now the main dining room. There is a bar and a gift shop. It has comfortable bedrooms (some with views of the hanging houses and the Gorge). A bridge connects the Parador to the old town and the Cathedral and, along with the limestone rock formations in the area, makes this magical city a sight to behold.

How To Arrive

The Parador is located opposite the Hanging Houses. Like the old quarter, access is via the unique metal bridge. The N-III is the main road from Madrid, taking the Tarancón exit. From Valencia, take the Motilla del Palancar exit.

Location

This Parador sits in a privileged position overlooking the Huecar Gorge with its steep walls and luxuriant vegetation and facing the famous “Hanging Houses” of Cuenca. During Easter week every year, Cuenca hosts the Semana de Música Religiosa, a festival celebrating religious music through the ages of Christianity. It is a popular festival in the local calendar, bringing people from all over Spain and Europe.
